Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to do to get my quilt ready for longarm quilting?
I recommend trimming all threads off the back (I know this is a rabbit hole of stress, do the best you can!) and give your top a good press. If your top fabrics are prewashed, prewash your baking and press. Backing should be 8” (minimum) larger than your top.
Do you provide thread and batting?
Thread is included in my longarming quote. I have several batting options that you can purchase, Dream Blend, Dream Cotton, and Dream Wool. If you love a specific batting, include it when you drop off/ship your quilt top.
How long will it take for my quilt to be completed?
This is a complicated question and varies depending on the time of year, size, and scope of the piece. In general, I run a 2-3 month backlog.
Custom/Heirloom quilting takes time. The creative process of designing a quilting plan takes almost as long as the actual quilting. You spend hours and months making your quilt top, I will not rush. Plan accordingly. I promise you, it is worth the wait. Anyone who claims they can quilt your top in a week or less is doing you a disservice.
Is my quilt top good enough for custom quilting?
YES! I know the thought, work, and care you have put into your project, so I strive to give each quilt a comprehensive and unique design that showcases your unique efforts.
